New for 2019, the Riverside Music College Industry Award is a unique opportunity for our students to build a working CV and high quality practical portfolio, preparing them to confidently take the next steps in their chosen career or further studies.
Employers and Universities already view our students in the highest regard in terms of their skills, knowledge and professional attitude - the RMC Industry Award aims to take this to the next level, giving our students an even greater advantage in this competitive industry.
In year 1, our students complete their Professional Development Project which contributes to the overall RMC Industry Award grade - achieved upon completion of the year 2 Project and Higher National Diploma.
If successful, students will receive a Pass, Merit or Distinction based on their overall professionalism, attendance, application, progress and attitude exhibited whilst studying here.
The award is based on the practical and occupational outputs of the Professional Development Project and involves students participating in extra-curricular, cross course and professional activities. This provides candidates with even more Industry experience and networking opportunities and ensures our students can leave here with a portfolio and CV to be proud of!
The RMC Industry Award is a part of our commitment to providing students with a focussed and relevant learning experience, ensuring they spend their time here getting industry ready! Our students also benefit from...
Our unique practical learning environment
We are a college completely dedicated to music industry learning, nothing else, and our creative campus fully reflects this. Designed by musicians and music industry professionals, our college is built around the existing Riverside Studios, a successful commercial enterprise which has been operating within the Music Industry for over 30 years. Our students benefit from studying in a real working commercial environment, unrivalled by any other college in Scotland.
Cross-course opportunities and learning
We offer our students the chance to work alongside their peers from different disciplines / courses and believe that this helps to develop networking and team working skills, which are crucial in building an Industry Career. There will always be musicians available for our Production students to record, and Sound engineers available to work with our performance students, leading to even more opportunities to gain practical studio experience.
Focused and relevant content
Every single unit on our HND courses is selected and designed specifically with the future career of our students in mind. Whether focussed on practical application, theory, or the inner workings of the industry, every unit counts towards the development of our students as future music industry professionals.
